Suggestions for nightly dinner routine? Cooking, recipes, etc.?

My boyfriend and I are going to start trying to be healthier and cost effective by making dinner every night. We've tried doing this in the past though and the attempts seem to fail after 2 or 3 times. I think sometimes it's just being at a loss of what to make.

So I guess my real question would be, what's a good way to get into the habit of making dinner every night? What's a good way to find recipes that aren't too complicated, and start doing a dinnertime routine?Suggestions for nightly dinner routine? Cooking, recipes, etc.?
The best (and only reliable way) to do this is to plan your menu for the week and shop for it. Boring as it may be, it makes it much easier at the end of the day to stick to your resolutions. It doesn't take long to do. Figure out what nights you will be home and plan meals for them. Make them simple to prepare because you will probably be tired by the end of the day. If you can't be bothered doing this there are places that will email you menus to use each week.

You can often find simple recipes at the supermarket while you shop. They will be promoting a product and give you a recipe for it., which is usually pretty easy to do.

There are also lots of pre-prepared meals now that you can buy. Chicken that is already marinated for you, pre-packaged salads, frozen veg that just needs steaming etc. Invest in a few jars of cook-in sauce, pasta sauce and packets of sauces. They can make the meal taste different each time.

I wish you luck with it. Here is a link to a place that talks about the best and easiest way to plan your menu.Suggestions for nightly dinner routine? Cooking, recipes, etc.?
pot roast potatoes carrott
u should sit down w/ him and c what he wants. kind of like a menu 4 the week. and go shopping 4 all the things u think ur gonna need 2 cook. this way ur getting 2 c what he wants and u also get 2 plan ahead. so when that day does come u don't have 2 worry about what 2 cook. but don't 4get 2 add things that u like as well. after a while u just 4get and just know what 2 cook cuz u know what he likes.
you could do meals that have leftovers so that the day after you could make a spinofff.....like meatloaf-make a large meatloaf and the next day have meatloaf sandwiches for lunch etc. or make a roast pork, beef, chicken, etc. with vegetables and then the next day use a jiffy box for a crust and make a pot pie out of the leftovers for lunch etc. LOL
I would suggest this...

plan your meals one week ahead...

that way you can shop effectively...

base your meals on items that are on sale

and items that are in season.

By planning meals ahead like this,

you can utilize leftovers also...
crock pots are very handy, throw stuff in in the morning, and its done.google recipes for whatever you like.i usually add the word easy to whatever recipe im looking for..lol..dont get too complicated or fancy because then it will be a pain to cook.plan a few things you want and get everything from the store so your ready.whos ever home first starts, and whoever doesnt cook...cleans up..:)
Combine your prep work for multiple meals on your days off. Cut up enough onion %26amp; veggies for multiple meals and put them in baggies.

Use for a quick stir fry with beef strips and serve in a tortilla wrap one night, and a vegetable side dish on another night.

Also- You can usually simplify and edit most dinnertime recipes. Experiment and find what you like best.
